The Washington City Paper's biggest issue of the year is their Best of D.C. issue where readers poll to see the best of what our nation's capitol has to offer. They held their 5th annual celebration at the Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon square and here are some photos from the memorable night.
Maryland Public Television held an event called Artworks Uncorked & Untapped, a fundraising event at the MPT station hosted by Rhea Feikin. The event consisted of artwork donated by regional artist for a silent auction, 3 artists doing live pieces that were put in a raffle, local breweries, wineries, and live music.
I've never been to a television studio before so it was pretty cool seeing where television shows are filmed and broadcasted.
The highlight for me was definitely the live artwork being done by three local artists throughout the night. Three lucky attendees were lucky enough to take their finished artwork home with them that night.
The artwork that was being auctioned really showcased how talent-rich the city of Baltimore really is. I had a blast shooting for MPT and I hope to cover more events like this in the future!
Last weekend I photographed another great piece from Contradiction Dance called NOW. I took the following description from the company's website.
Based on site-specific explorations, NOW explores the questions How am I present? and How am I distracted? NOW may or may not contain Alternative Facts and should not be taken on an empty stomach. Heavy machinery should not be operated while experiencing NOW. Featuring the choreography of Contradiction Dance company members.
Contradiction Dance is the resident dance company at Anacostia Arts Center. NOW is the 6th production to be presented and premiered at Anacostia Arts Center by the company. Past shows at AAC: Walk a Mile, #DanceAboutDC, BOUNDARIES, Code Switch, Objects of Hope: The America Project.
The Montgomery Blair Poms Squad may not have come out with a trophy last week but the girls left everything on the dance floor and you really can't ask for anything more.
Here are some pictures of the girls from different performances throughout the season.
Quarter+Glory is an American Cocktail Bar located on the ever popular and exciting U Street corridor in Washington DC. Q+G just celebrated their first birthday live music, heavy hors d' oeuvres and a full menu of craft cocktails
I was there to photograph the VIP and Media portion of the event and before I knew it, the bar got packed really quickly.
The bartenders were working really hard all night! I have no clue how they are able to tend to everyone and do so in such a timely manner.
Q+G had a special Anniversary menu.
The live band was fantastic!
